Illusionary Bars

Description: A fun and freeing class for learning new techniques, such as raw edge appliqué fusing and thread art. Select large florals as the main fabric. You will have several different color choices. Let your creative juices flow and have a great time with no stress, and no rules.


Ribbon Flowers and Leaves

Description: Learn to make fuchsias, berries and two different leaves using a variety of French ribbons and Helen's techniques found in Ribbonwork The Complete Guide. Don't miss a chance to learn from the "Queen of Ribbonwork" ! Bring scissors and a ruler.

Crazy Quilting

  Teacher: Gwen Shepherd, Mountain Top Quilts, Leadville, CO

Description: Crazy quilts are fun and beautiful! There is no right or wrong way - all stitches are a go. Crazy quilts can be made in a variety of ways. Gwen will demo 2 machine methods - crazy quilt blocks out of wools, and the flip and sew method with silks and satins. Students will receive instructions on basic handmade crazy quilt stitches, i.e., feather, French knots, lazy daisy, chevron stitch, etc. Students will be given a completed wool block and embroidery floss to practice on. That block can be used in the Beading the Seams class. Students need to bring small scissors and a thimble.

Pet-me Cuff/Bracelet

Kit fee: $25 includes pattern and everything you will need to make the cuff/bracelet
Description: This spiky cuff/bracelet is so fun to wear you will want to make some for your family and friends. Create a peyote base with seed beads and layer with dagger beads. Make it into a bracelet by adding a slider clasp or sew it together into a cuff. It looks sharp, but feels soft. So simple to make. You will be able to make the base and get started on the spike layers before the end of class. Be sure to bring scissors and a lamp to work under as the rooms tend to be a little dark.

Fearless Fabric Painting

Description: You will learning a batik method, fabric painting skies and some great other painting fun. Class includes hands on and lecture.
Students need to bring paint brushes, apron (or wear old clothes), an open frame (min size 8x10) and some thumb tacks.
 

Porcelain Clay Flowers

  Teacher: Elma Simpson, Giftmakers & Co., Albuquerque, NM
Time: Friday, 3:00 pm-4:30
Kit fee: $2.50 includes clay and a sample set of finished leaves and flowers to take home
Description: Learn hands-on, the basic techniques of making a variety of flowers, petals, and leaves out of air-dry porcelain clay, using imported Spanish tools exclusive for this technique. Students should bring a small paint brush, a small pair of sharp scissors, and note paper.
Some tools will be available for purchase.

Roses, Roses, Roses

Description: If you've wanted to learn how to make some of the gorgeous ribbon roses that Helen Gibb is famous for, then now is your chance to take this Roses, Roses, Roses class. You will learn three techniques on how to make a rose, including the fabulous vintage rose showcased on the cover of "Ribbonwork The Complete Guide". Bring scissors and a ruler.

Garden Lattice Bracelet

Description: Not your garden variety bracelet. Create this very cute and fun to wear bracelet using glass leaves, flowers and drops using right-angle weave. Finish this easy to make bracelet in class. Be sure to bring your lamp to work under as the rooms tend to be a little dark.

Hand Piecing

Description: Having trouble with those "Y" seams? Hand piecing is one of the easiest ways of dealing with them. Hand piecing is a way to take small handwork projects with you anywhere. In class you will learn how to conquer the basics by hand piecing the Wishing Star Block. Quilt pieces, needle and thread will be provided. Students need to bring small scissors and a thimble.

Beading the Seams

  Teacher: Teacher: Sherrill Lewis, The Bead Ranch, Stillwater, OK
Time: Saturday, 12:00 pm-1:30
Kit fee: $25 includes bugle beads, seed beads, other beads, needles, thread, bead mat, and instructions
Description: Dress up your Crazy Quilt block primarily with bugle beads replicating thread stitches. Bugle beads work up fast and add another dimension to your bead embroidery. Easy for beginners or more advanced students.
Students should bring sharp scissors and possibly a task light.
 

Layered Landscapes

Time: Saturday, 2:00 pm-3:30
Kit fee: $20
Description: You will learn to layer fabrics to create dimensional landscapes. We will work with sheers, netting, and some other uncommon fabrics to create depth.
Students need to bring paper scissors,  fabric scissors, drawing pencil, small iron, ironing station and a Teflon pressing sheet.


Stabilizer Magic

Description: Learn the secrets to beautiful creations by understanding stabilizers and battings.
Learn the art of fabric decoupage technique from Jenny Haskins. After this quick
class you will know what stabilizer to use for the perfect result. Complete a
small project in class using Jenny Haskins Stabilizers and Magic Heat Cutting Tool.
