Fabric Challenge
The 2008 Fabric Challenge is titled "Memories". Let it evoke
memories of people, places, and times past. Your entry will be judged on
creativity, workmanship, and originality.

You may choose to enter in one of the following categories:

wallhanging
-
doll
-
wearable art
-
machine embroidery
-
miscellaneous
You may enter more than one category,
using one packet per category.
The basic challenge rule that applies to all categories is you must use all
five (5) of the fabrics from the challenge packet. You may add up to two (2)
fabrics of your choice. Your entry may be embellished in any manner.
The word
"memories" or "memory" must be included on the front of your entry.
Possibilities might be embroidery, stamping, painting, appliqué, etc.

Your completed entry must be received by
5 p.m. on April 1, 2008.

Judges will
award a monetary first place prize and ribbon for each category. Second
prize in each category will also receive a ribbon. Honorable mention will be
chosen from all entries.
There will also be a Viewers Choice ribbon and an
EXPO Choice ribbon
Additional rules per category:
Wallhanging: Maximum size is 30" X 30". Use any piecing and quilting
methods. Binding and backing should be from the seven (7) fabrics (five from
the Challenge Packet and your two choices).
Doll: Maximum height is 18". If you use a different fabric for the
doll body, it will count as one of your two added fabrics. All items must be
sewn on or attached and must have a stand provided if needed.
Wearable art: You may enter only one garment. It may be constructed
in any method you prefer.
Machine Embroidery:
This category
includes the use of embroidery designs and monogramming. This excludes
decorative stitches and built-in machine lettering.
Miscellaneous: This category includes home décor items, stuffed
animals, etc. Use any construction method. |
