Bra Challenge
Bra Challenge Loose Threads Embroidery Group of Colorado
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, to increase awareness about breast
cancer and educate women about the disease. All Proceeds go to the Colorado
Springs Affiliate of the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Local
Affiliate serving El Paso, Pueblo, and Teller Counties. 75% of their money
stays within these counties.
Many women have decorated bras for breast cancer events in their local
communities. Their efforts have generated support, services and compassion
for breast cancer patients and survivors. The Loose Threads Embroidery Group
held their first Bra challenge in 2006 raising over $300 on the silent
Auction, the Second annual Bra Challenge in 2007 raised $620. The Bra
Challenge is open to anyone. The deadline is 10 days prior to the “Quilt and
Stitch Expo at Pueblo, Co each year. Judging will take place prior to the
Expo where all of the Bra Entries will be on display and up for Silent
Auction.
Design Guidelines for the Bra Challenge 2008

The theme for this competition is “Breast Cancer Awareness.” Bra designs
should be creative and visually attractive. You may decorate a bra in it’s
original form or you may make a bra purse.

The entry must consist of a lightly padded bra. It must be used as a base
for your design. Please do not use a long line bra.

The bras are created to honor women with breast cancer, and the designs
must be in visually attractive.

Name your entry and include a list of supplies and techniques used to
create your bra. Attach a tag to the bra with your name and the title of the
piece.

The front of the bra, bra straps and the sides of the bra should be
embellished.

Should you desire a particular color for the bra base, buy the shade of
bra or paint the entire bra with soft fabric paint. The bra can be
hand-painted, dyed, pieced with fabric and/or decorated with trim, feathers
or sequins. The choice is yours. Be sure the bra is not so heavy in the
front as to be difficult to display. Secure all decorations firmly to
prevent damage to your piece.

The back of the bra must be left open for display purposes. Do not stitch
the back of the bra closed.
- The inside of the bra must be trimmed, painted or dyed for exhibition
purposes.
- Optional: You may write a paragraph about your creation describing your
inspiration for your piece.

Your complete packet should include the entry form, name of piece and
list of materials, decorated bra and optional paragraph. Deliver your packet

Anyone can enter. You may enter as many times as you would like.

There is no fee to enter this competition. A first, second and third
prize will be awarded. The entries will be displayed at the Pueblo Quilt
Expo on April 4th and 5th after the competition has been judged.

All entries must be received by March 24, 2008 by 1 pm.

Judging will be conducted by April 3rd, 2008, and winners will be
notified by telephone or e-mail. All decisions of the Loose Threads
Embroidery club Bra Challenge 2008 Committee will be final.

All Entries will be in the Silent Auction held at the Pueblo Quilt Expo
located at the Pueblo Convention Center April 4, 2008 9am to 6pm and April
5, 2008 9am to 6pm. All Proceeds go to the Colorado Springs Affiliate of the
